As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been a Street Fighter fan. I remember the very first time I played Street Fighter II in the arcades. I was 12 years old and I had taken my then 5 year old brother with me to the arcades. I chose Guile and he chose Dhalsim and I wasn’t able to land a single hit on him.

Ever since my baby boy was born on February first, everyone keeps asking the same thing. How is it that I can find so much time for video games? Having a baby is very time consuming and, even with my generous 6 weeks of parental leave, I still found it hard to find time for myself (ie: gaming time).
That is, before I discovered that my shoulder is more comfortable to a newborn than any bed, pillow, blanket or hammock made by man:

A good friend of mine just got transferred to China to teach animation.
He took the following breath-taking shot from the airplane!
Sometimes we need to take a step back and just try to take in the reality of what’s around us.
We can fly!
We can get a view of the world past generations couldn’t even imagine … think about it.

Yesterday, a friend of mine gave me an old laptop because I’m too cheap to buy a new one. It’s a Dell Inspiron 2500, a Celeron computer that was struggling with the Windows XP OS installed on it. The first thing I did was, of course, format the computer and reinstall XP on it. It gave it a little boost but nothing to write a blog post about.
Then, while chatting online with another friend, I explained my predicament to him. He suggested I install Ubuntu on the laptop. Now I’ve heard about Ubuntu before and many a friend and co-worker has tried to convert me to Linuxism. Although I love the idea of free open-source software, I wasn’t thrilled that many of my programs won’t even work. Still, with the laptop the way it was running with XP, no programs were working on it so I decided to take the plunge.
