The fine folks at the Exploding Barrel have just put together a comprehensive “by the numbers” look at the games available for the Next Gen consoles + the Wii (the Wii is not Next Gen, I don’t care what anyone says).
Not only did they compare the top 20 games on each system (by metacritic scores with links included), they also compared the scores of exclusive games and cross-platform games. It was a bit of an eye opener in some ways and not a surprise at all in others. Console fanboys be warned, you might not like what you see.
Please note, this feature is comparing games and not consoles. The scores are all from metacritic and so are as impartial as possible.

Seems like a fair enough list. I cannot deny what it says, but (and I know you know this) the race is not over yet, and PS3 promises great exclusives to come, I would like to see the overall score in a year. Oh and Bioshock is no longer a 360 exclusive…
But its still a great article and there is no denying those numbers. Except for Oblivion that makes no sense that the 360 version would get a higher grade since it was clearly the superior version on the PS3.

interesting read. personally, i just feel more confident with the ps3 as a console. my 360 always sounds like its gonna explode. i’ve usually settled on buying 360 games in the past simply because there are more gamers online and the online menu is much more user friendly; although i heard ver. 2.4 should solve that problem for the psn…if so, ill def. start shifting over. im curious to see how the 09 sports games turn out for ps3, as all the 08 versions were much better on xbox, except for mlb the show, which was a ps exclusive…
