professorxst1.jpgYears ago, in 1991 to be specific, I picked up a copy of Jim Lee’s X-Men # 1. The comic itself was brilliant and the ones that followed it were equally amazing, but I did have one complaint… In the first few pages, Charles Xavier tries to wow Jean Grey by speaking in French and ends up making himself look like a complete fool. Actually, it was the writers that looked like fools with their poor French translation. I’ve seen similar cases here and there for a few more years after that, but I did take a break from reading comic books several years ago (with the exception of the Exiles) and have only restarted reading recently.

little_sister.jpgDue to some extenuating circumstances, I have only just finished Bioshock last weekend. Needless to say, the game has a lot going for it. It’s gorgeous to look at most of the time, had a great story, really fun weapons and pseudo-magic, incredibly detailed fictional world, and the atmosphere was out of this world! You’d think that was enough, wouldn’t you? No, the brilliant team behind the game decided to add emotion…

star_wars_clone_wars.jpgI got a free ticket to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars from work on the premiere night. Everyone pretty much knew beforehand that the movie sucked but I figured if I went in with low expectations, I would enjoy it anyway. Sadly I was mistaken.

It’s a shame since I really loved the cartoons and was looking forward to the made for TV 3D equivalent. Still, it wasn’t all bad, the character models were really nice, especially Count Dooku, and I suppose it was … err… colorful?

newexiles-777495.jpgQuite a while ago, I wrote about the end of the Exile comic book and the beginning of the New Exiles. In short, I stated how I was a big fan of the series and was saddened that it had come to an end. I did start reading the New Exiles from the first issue and it has proved to be a total disappointment just as I had anticipated.

So why is the new series bad and what made the old series great? Let me explain…

before and afterI got an IPHONE over 6 months ago…never had I used such a cool but annoying thing in my life… its cool for about 72 hours then the coolness fades on you… I found a great article on GIZMODO that truly documents what I’m talking about:

GIZMODO ARTICLE

8-12-08-jeep_internet_car.jpgIt has finally arrived…we will now be able to subscribe to wireless internet for our car! Now you don’t have to wait to get home to perform your WoW raids…you can raid all the way home! Wait a minute isn’t that too dangerous? Well who cares about the road and highway safety guidelines - this is WIFI on the fly!

The other day I heard on the radio that Chrysler will be coming out with WIFI internet for cars. So I did all this research on the net checking out ENDGADGET, TWICE, CRUNCH GEAR and more geek driven sites and to my pleasure it’s true.

Chrysler motors announced earlier this year that it would be providing 2009 models of certain vehicles with internet capabilities. Well earlier this month they announced that they will begin selling this feature as early as August 25 of this year.

randypausch_wiki_2.jpgCarnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who was dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. richard-stjohn.jpgIn today’s day and age we are all looking to be successful somehow. Some of us play the lottery hoping to win millions of dollars. Others study toward becoming one of the trifecta of educational success: doctor, engineer or lawyer. And some of us break the law and try to cheat the system making a quick buck here and there.

How to become successful in life is something that I ponder about a lot. Being a manager of 27 employees it’s my job to motivate and support people in their career and life goals. In doing so I always look for fun team building activities to do and I look for great videos to watch in team meetings.

midnightpool.jpgThis might not be big news to most but, this being the first game I work on that wasn’t canceled/postponed, I’m totally psyched! Yup, my first ever designed game to see a public release, Midnight Pool for Wii Ware, is coming soon to a Wii near you!

The team working on this really did put a lot of effort in it and we believe we really did make the best pool game out there available on any console. I’m really happy that the game is finally out and I can’t wait to pick-up a Wii so that I can show it off to all my friends ;)

Here’s a snippet from the press release:

I wanted to bring another amazing site to your attention. The site is TED.com.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader. The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives.

This site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free. More than 200 talks from their archive are now available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted. Like the one below. If you believe in any humanitarian causes or love entertainment and technology this site is a must see.
