8-12-08-jeep_internet_car.jpgIt has finally arrived…we will now be able to subscribe to wireless internet for our car! Now you don’t have to wait to get home to perform your WoW raids…you can raid all the way home! Wait a minute isn’t that too dangerous? Well who cares about the road and highway safety guidelines - this is WIFI on the fly!

The other day I heard on the radio that Chrysler will be coming out with WIFI internet for cars. So I did all this research on the net checking out ENDGADGET, TWICE, CRUNCH GEAR and more geek driven sites and to my pleasure it’s true.

Chrysler motors announced earlier this year that it would be providing 2009 models of certain vehicles with internet capabilities. Well earlier this month they announced that they will begin selling this feature as early as August 25 of this year.

This will be an add on feature as part of their UCONNECT service and it will be called UCONNECT WEB. UCCONECT is currently Chrysler’s bluetooth kit that comes with their cars. This will be an in car EV-DO system with an activation fee of $35 and a monthly subscription of $29. The WIFI router that will be retrofitted into their vehicles cost approximately $499. The service is said to provide download speeds between 400Kbps and 800Kbps with uploads hovering around 400Kbps. The company AUTONET mobile claims that one will never lose an internet connection. Personally I find that to be a really hard to believe and a very bold claim but we’ll just have to wait and see.autonet.jpg

I can’t wait to see all the bratty little kids watching youtube videos of the latest uncreative music video that was just released. Oh but wait, I can also connect my webcam on my laptop and you can all watch me live as I curse at all my fellow commuters for driving too slow … due to being distracted from using some gadget that should not be used while driving … isn’t life full of irony!?
