star_wars_clone_wars.jpgI got a free ticket to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars from work on the premiere night. Everyone pretty much knew beforehand that the movie sucked but I figured if I went in with low expectations, I would enjoy it anyway. Sadly I was mistaken.

It’s a shame since I really loved the cartoons and was looking forward to the made for TV 3D equivalent. Still, it wasn’t all bad, the character models were really nice, especially Count Dooku, and I suppose it was … err… colorful?

Yup, that’s pretty much all I can come up with to compliment the movie. Sadly it was very badly animated and the dialog was horrendous. Everyone referred to each other by a stupid nickname and there was very little seriousness to it at all. Had it been released as a “made for TV” movie then I wouldn’t have complained too much, but this is no blockbuster theater release by any stretch of the imagination.

The new character, Ahsoka Tano, had no redeeming values. She was a very annoying brat that was supposed to learn how not to be a brat from another annoying brat (Anakin Skywalker if you haven’t guessed). At least there were some recognizable faces and even a couple of recognizable voices in Yoda and Mace Windu! Yup, Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as a Jedi. Man, does that guy know how to say no to any movie role at all?  Still, you gotta love him! :D

Bottom line, the movie sucked so stay clear. Barely worth watching even for free…
