I got a free ticket to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars from work on the premiere night. Everyone pretty much knew beforehand that the movie sucked but I figured if I went in with low expectations, I would enjoy it anyway. Sadly I was mistaken.
It’s a shame since I really loved the cartoons and was looking forward to the made for TV 3D equivalent. Still, it wasn’t all bad, the character models were really nice, especially Count Dooku, and I suppose it was … err… colorful?
Yup, that’s pretty much all I can come up with to compliment the movie. Sadly it was very badly animated and the dialog was horrendous. Everyone referred to each other by a stupid nickname and there was very little seriousness to it at all. Had it been released as a “made for TV” movie then I wouldn’t have complained too much, but this is no blockbuster theater release by any stretch of the imagination.
The new character, Ahsoka Tano, had no redeeming values. She was a very annoying brat that was supposed to learn how not to be a brat from another annoying brat (Anakin Skywalker if you haven’t guessed). At least there were some recognizable faces and even a couple of recognizable voices in Yoda and Mace Windu! Yup, Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as a Jedi. Man, does that guy know how to say no to any movie role at all? Still, you gotta love him!
Bottom line, the movie sucked so stay clear. Barely worth watching even for free…

Man it was horrible Shadi. Dumb story, horrible animations, very childish dialog, horrible new additions … just very bad!

*cry* I want to believe!

Animation was so so, storywise i couldn’t really swallow the fact that they were crazy enough to saddle anakin with a padawan. One good point about the movie: i got to see stormtroopers that aren’t really used up as cannon fodder. They still got their ass kicked a bit but they held their own.
Hey osama btw whats up with the walker walking up a 90degree cliff? Next thing you know theyll say AT-AT can do this.

Although I was miffed that nothing really ‘epic’ happened (death of a main character, planet blowing up), I must say I enjoyed the movie, and look forward to watching the TV show. I liked Anakin’s padawan, and found the baby Hutt to be repulsive/adorable.
BTW we gave your game props in our latest podcast. Good job man… I’m going to pick it up when I get paid.

@ Rodney: Please don’t get me started on plot points and continuity issues
I mean, how come we’ve never heard of Anakin’s padawan before? She was never mentioned ANYWHERE and EVER! Does that mean she died somewhere in the TV series? Dunno …
@David: Haha sorry David I didn’t find the podcast on your front page this week but I did look!

Nah, she won’t die in the series. My guess is that Yoda brought her with him to Dagoba, after all, exile can be a very lonely business.

But then we woulda heard mention of that, no? I still think her death is more likely. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part

Yes, I’m sure Yoda would have told Luke about bringing a 14 years old girl with him as a ‘companion’ with him when he fled
Was just kidding here.

LOL! I’m sorry I’m no pedophile
Didn’t see any sexual reference in a 14 year old girl

Nice review. The fact that I went to see ALL of the prequel movies on their opening nights, and still haven’t seen this one is an indication of how much my enthusiasm for Star Wars has died.

Star Wars should have ended with the first (last?) three movies. George Lucas has some splainin to do.
