Back in February, I wrote about how I’ve been dying to make a Little Big Planet remake of Super Mario Bros. world 1-1. Well it seems that someone has already made one!
Yeah it’s pretty ugly and plays as slow as molasses, but it still looks pretty faithful level-design wise. What really irks me is that this was done in the Beta and, since I wasn’t part of the beta, I didn’t even have the chance to be the first to make a Mario homage
Oh well, I can still be the best!
Here’s to hoping the only game I’ve pre-ordered this year doesn’t get delayed once more …

So the regular season is just around the corner and it seems like the Montreal Canadiens are going to make a strong impression! It’s more important for the Canadiens to win the cup than any other team this year. Why? Because they have a lot to lose. The Canadiens are the only team to have won at least one Stanley Cup each decade of the league’s esistence! Yes, 24 cups since 1916! If they don’t win this year, that record will sadly come to an end. Therefore, the Habs have the most to lose if they don’t win the cup…
So how will they do? What are they missing? Why do we believe they actually have a chance at the cup this year? Read on …

I was reading Rayna’s blog the other day when she mentioned this new game Akoha. What can I say, the concept behind Akoha is quite brilliant! A card game that rewards people for doing good deeds in real life? That’s awesome on so many levels!I love card games and I always talk about doing good deeds so I feel almost as if the designers of this game had me in mind all along! Rayna just gave me my starter deck on Friday and I can’t wait to get started spreading good all other the world and tracking how far my good deeds go! (more…)

Back in March, I wrote about my first experience with Ubuntu. Although it was a very pleasant one, I kept my Vista installed and couldn’t convince my wife to switch over. That meant that every time I got home, Vista was running. More often than not, I’d be too lazy to boot the PC back into Ubuntu and so I just ended up using more Vista than Ubuntu.
Well that’s not entirely fair, I would sometimes boot into Vista myself to use Photoshop. I know that Ubuntu comes loaded with GIMP, its own graphic editor with features comparable to Photoshop, but I was not at all interested in learning a new graphic editor when I had a perfectly good “paid for” one that I was already proficient with.

Since the first day I picked up a comic book I’ve wished I had superpowers. I know that I’m not alone in this, especially now that super heroes are on TV and Movies at an unprecedented scale, but I’m pretty sure not many people out there have given it as much thought as I have.
Sure, some powers seem great because our favorite super heroes have them, but those heroes exist in a different (fictional) reality where the rules of our reality don’t apply (such as having other super-powered beings) . Also, most heroes have multiple powers, not just one.

Google has done it again! Taking an existing app and revamping the way it looks and the way it works… for the sake of internet and all its netizens. Google has created their own browser. Not since the cold war between I.E and Netscape has one been so bold in the face of Microsoft.
Don’t get me wrong, Mozilla is great and it’s my favorite browser by far.
But Google will build on the successes of Mozilla, and play Microsoft at its own game – the art of mass distribution!

I’ve been an avid video game player since the first time I put a quarter in that ‘Weird Space Invaders thing’ all those years ago. Many games passed through my hands since then, some good, some bad, but no matter in witch category they would fall, many would have one critical flaw: they often confuse challenge with frustration.
Now before I go any further, I want to respond right away to the avalanche of ‘wuss’ emails I will probably receive later on. I don’t want to know that you were able to go through this or that level or mission on your first try. Fine, you were able beat the mission I wasn’t able to. Good for you, but the point wasn’t a single mission or a specific game.

I just wanted to take this opportunity, on behalf of everyone at Towards Mecca (even the atheist guy), to wish you all a blessed and happy Ramadhan!
May your blessings be too many to count… And your worries too few to matter. May your days be filled with Sunshine… And your nights in comfort. May you never go hungry… And be able to share your bounty. May God bless and protect you… And strengthen your faith. May the next Eid we celebrate be free from oppression, hatred, persecution, and fear… My wishes to all for a blessed Ramadan and please remember those who go hungry all year long… Ramadan Mubarak to all.
