Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who was dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. For more, visit www.cmu.edu/randyslecture.“Journeys” are special University Lectures in which Carnegie Mellon faculty members share their reflections on their journeys — the everyday actions, decisions, challenges and joys that make a life. In today’s day and age we are all looking to be successful somehow. Some of us play the lottery hoping to win millions of dollars. Others study toward becoming one of the trifecta of educational success: doctor, engineer or lawyer. And some of us break the law and try to cheat the system making a quick buck here and there.
How to become successful in life is something that I ponder about a lot. Being a manager of 27 employees it’s my job to motivate and support people in their career and life goals. In doing so I always look for fun team building activities to do and I look for great videos to watch in team meetings.

I wanted to bring another amazing site to your attention. The site is TED.com.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader. The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives.
This site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free. More than 200 talks from their archive are now available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted. Like the one below. If you believe in any humanitarian causes or love entertainment and technology this site is a must see.

People often ask me what it is that a Game Designer does. I tried to explain it but in some people’s minds there are only artists and programmers.
If you’re one of those people that just don’t understand what game design is, you need to see this video. It’ll explain just exactly what I do on a day to day basis!

Move over William Hung, there’s a new King of Idol in town! Yesterday’s Canadian Idol had one of the most memorable performances in my humble opinion! Khuram Sher won everyone’s hearts with his heart-felt singing and well-practiced dancing as he performed April (sic) Lavigne’s song Complicated! He made the judges explode in laughter more than once as well!
Did I mention that he’s a personal friend of mine? Yup … well stop reading and start watching already!
